I painted this illustration years ago for Psychology Today. Scientists created a study based on the idea that once you tell someone NOT to think about a particular object, the subject will promptly only be able to think about that object. In this case it happened to be about polar bears driving around in cars. I think what I enjoy most about this illustration is the gleeful look of the polar bear (in the center)—it’s almost a nah-nah-nah kind of look as he spins around in the subjects hat (mind).
