Potholders

Does this bring back childhood memories? Do you remember making these potholders?
The other day while driving down my street I spied four early elementary-age children huddled around a homemade stand with a handpainted sign advertising their potholders for sale. I stopped my car and approached the stand and greeted them. Two boys were busy setting out their products while two girls (one obviously the CEO of the company) were busy creating the potholders. I tried my best not to sound patronizing when I was asking about the potholders but golly, they were just so darn tootin’ cute about the whole process. The CEO told me the price of the potholders and then she promptly told me that all profits were going to the Humane Society. I think it’s the best three dollars I’ve spent in a long time.
I loved the whole interaction: their ambition, persistance, good nature and above all the beauty of their sweet potholders. Life is good.
