Parks and Recreation
I want to write the creators of Parks and Recreation a fan letter. The last episode, “Hunting Trip” was so good that I couldn’t catch my breath I was laughing so hard. Maybe it’s because I live in the “land of hunting” but the writers completely nailed it. The dialogue, the pacing—an amazing piece of creative writing. In these challenging times I truly appreciate the gift of laughter that this show gave me.
smart car with dummies
Wondering around a sweet town in the northeast part of our state I spotted this car with the two mannequins, a.k.a. dummies.(Well, that’s what we used to call them years ago)
“Smart car with two dummies”—love it.
Love scarves
My oldest daughter knitted this scarf for me. The second I wrapped it around my neck I could feel the love and care she took to make this beautiful work of art. These scarves remind me of prayer shawls that people at my church lovingly knit/crochet to give to people who need an extra blessing boost to get them through hard times.
Hand doodles
Did you doodle|scribble|draw on your hands when you were young? I like to think of them as washable tattoos for the visually-fickle-minded. I loved this sweet kitty M drew on her hand—it made my day.
Frost
Little miracles happening out in my front garden. Nice.
Autumn tasks
I’ve been busy raking leaves for the past few days. Big yard + lots of trees= LOTS of leaves for the compost pile. The hours of daylight are shortening so it feels like a mad dash to get it all done but yesterday I was easily distracted by the sunlight glistening on the pin oaks, the way the light played with the tines of the rake, the rustling sounds of the wind through the mighty pin oaks and the sweet little squirrels chasing each other ’round my yard. This isn’t my favorite time of the year so it’s good when I can stop and take in the little miracles happening around me.
