Christmas Eve
I love this silly little Christmas tree. We used to purchase a live tree every year until one year we decided (due to traveling schedules) that we’d get this one to tide us over. We set it up and loaded it up with every ornament we had and it stole my heart. I seem to like packed little trees like this or the other extreme—a scraggly little flea bitten tree with two sprigs and a star on it. They seem to represent the two sides of the spirit of Christmas to me: a time when we reflect on the amazing bounty of love in our lives and then the streamlined simplicity of the story of the One who came to give us the greatest gift of all. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate this day.
Wash Your Hands
This illustration reminds me of my time as a preschool associate when I would help the children get ready for their snack time. We often asked them to sing the “ABC song” while they washed so they would get all of the germs off of their hands. Good advice for us grown-ups, too!
Put Your Toys Away
Here’s to all the adults who have yelped after stepping on yet another Lego piece or bounced down the stairs via a Tonka Truck.
Make Your Bed
One of the chores that I rarely make into a habit but it’s good to have something to strive for—eh?
Comb Your Hair
One in a series of illustrations that encourage children to complete their chores.
Eat Your Vegetables
A friendly reminder courtesy of a family who just came down with the big ‘ol flu bug. Yowsa. This image comes from a series I did that began when I was trying to teach my oldest child how to complete basic chores. I loved this kid with his mello all-knowing look. I’ll share the rest of them throughout the coming days. Keep warm and keep healthy!
