Christmas Eve

I love this silly little Christmas tree. We used to purchase a live tree every year until one year we decided (due to traveling schedules) that we’d get this one to tide us over. We set it up and loaded it up with every ornament we had and it stole my heart. I seem to like packed little trees like this or the other extreme—a scraggly little flea bitten tree with two sprigs and a star on it. They seem to represent the two sides of the spirit of Christmas to me: a time when we reflect on the amazing bounty of love in our lives and then the streamlined simplicity of the story of the One who came to give us the greatest gift of all.
