Ah summer where did you go to? June flew by, July was filled with endless rain and now it’s almost time to pack up for school.
So we decided to pack up a few things and try out a new campsite. We camped along a beautiful stream called the Scenic River that runs through a dairy farm a few hours north of us. It was so peaceful there—-lots of families with young children, lumbering old camp dogs and perky pups. I must admit that I haven’t always been a fan of camping. Sleeping on the hard ground, being stuck next to folks whose greatest aim is to party as hard as they can in the great outdoors into the wee hours. But this camping trip was different—my sweetie brought along an airbed for me to sleep on and we lucked out by picking a campground that, as the owner stated, turned out to be the “non-party” campground.
The next morning we woke to a blanket of fog that was all the more beautiful when the sun started peaking out from behind the bluff.
We enjoyed a great campfire breakfast and then we headed off for a four hour canoe trip down the river. Unfortunately I forgot my camera but it was a beautiful ride down the river—majestic limestone bluffs and five bald eagles along the way. A wonderful way to wrap up a good summer.
