The other day my friend Marie came over with her portable sewing machine and we played around with creating a little crazy quilt with my color proofing towels.
I love the collage-like process of piecing together scraps of fabric; the way colors and shapes bump into each other---creating new rhythms and pattern play.
I've always liked jazz music (all forms) and working with these colorproofing scraps feels a bit like the improvisation I hear when listening to jazz. You know there's a basic form but the artist plays around with the elements within that form to come up with their own vision.
It was so interesting as I worked along side Marie to see how she interpreted the patterns I'd printed. Such fun!
